Emirates NBD Egypt announces the appointment of Amr ElShafei as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director.
Cairo - 26th February 2022 : Emirates NBD Egypt announces the appointment of Amr ElShafei as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director.

Amr ElShafei joins Emirates NBD Egypt armed with a lengthy and versatile background in several financial institutions locally and regionally. Most recently, ElShafei served as Executive Vice Chairman of Banque du Caire and is currently an Independent Non-Executive Board Member of Sarwa Sukuk S.A.E., Arab Developers Holding Company S.A.E. and The International Company for Medical Industries.
Amr ElShafie started his career in HSBC Egypt Corporate Banking where he spent five years. He has also worked with Citibank in Egypt and the UAE for six years as well as Mashreq Bank in UAE.
Throughout his career, Amr has held a number of leadership positions including; Group Head of Corporate Banking, Debt and Structured Finance at The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) and Regional Head of Corporate Banking and Corporate Products for Barclays Egypt, Kenya and Tanzania.
At Barclays he also served as a member of the Executive Committee for Corporate and Investment Banking for Africa (excluding South Africa).
Amr has served as Non-Executive Board Member at the Holding Company for Tourism and Hotels and Cairo Leasing Corporation, Misr Bank-Europe GmbH in Frankfurt and Board Member of Al AHLY Capital Holding (NBE's Investment Banking arm) as well as Al Ahly Leasing Company.
Amr ElShafei holds a B.Sc. in Economics and Political Science from Cairo University.
