Dubai, September 13, 2014: Emirates NBD, a leading bank in the region, announced today that it was named ‘Best Consumer Internet Bank for the UAE’ by Global Finance magazine’s World’s Best Internet Banks Award. The bank won the prestigious award in recognition of its concerted efforts to offer customers an enriched banking experience and to increase the adoption of digital banking.

Global Finance recognised success stories of banks across the globe in relation to their strategy for attracting and servicing online customers, success in getting clients to use web offerings, growth of online customers, breadth of product offerings, evidence of tangible benefits gained from Internet initiatives, and web site design and functionality.

The jury at World’s Best Internet Banks also awarded Emirates NBD the ‘Best Mobile Banking App’ in the Middle East and Africa region, which reaffirms the bank’s commitment to smart banking initiatives which make customers’ lives simpler and more convenient.

Technology innovation and adoption remain a key priority for Emirates NBD. In the recent past the bank has made significant investments in new technologies and launched an array of innovative online-only products, resulting in significant adoption of the bank’s digital banking services.

The bank has received an overwhelming response to its next generation self-service banking offerings such as DirectRemit, Emirates NBD mePay, and ‘Shake n Save’, among others.

With Emirates NBD’s Online and Mobile Banking channels, customers can perform over 200 transactions including request for new products and services. In the first 15 months, since the launch of the Mobile Banking App, more than 15 per cent of the bank’s active customers have become active users of its mobile services. In addition, one out of every two customers using the Online Banking services is also taking advantage of the superior Mobile Banking platform.

Emirates NBD is the only bank in the UAE to offer e-payment capabilities through all bank channels for over 25 major service providers, varying from telecom, utilities, transportation, card schemes, and education sectors, among others. 

Emirates NBD’s mobile banking applications are available through all the main mobile operating systems like iOS, Android, Windows 8 and BlackBerry, both for smart phones and tablets. The bank’s online banking service is compatible with the latest internet browsers, powered with the highest performance.
