Emirates NBD distributes cooling vests to UAE workers to help beat heat

Emirates NBD, a leading banking Group in the region, helped workers in the UAE beat the heat this summer by distributing cooling vests at the Al Manar mall extension construction site, managed by Sun Engineering & Contracting.

Dubai, 21 July, 2016: Emirates NBD, a leading banking Group in the region, helped workers in the UAE beat the heat this summer by distributing cooling vests at the Al Manar mall extension construction site, managed by Sun Engineering & Contracting.

Bank executives gave away 500 of the specially made vests to the workers, designed to reduce the wearer’s body temperature by five to seven degrees. With cooling mechanisms and refrigeration facilities being virtually non-existent on most construction sites, the jackets are made of a submersible material that offer a cooling sensation to the wearer on being submerged in water for a few minutes followed by wringing out excess water.

The bank’s Business Banking unit is reaching out to its customers to encourage implementation of the cooling vests across construction sites and camps during the summer months and has created an awareness video on the benefits of the vest. Vikas Thapar, Head of Business Banking at Emirates NBD commented: “We have received encouraging feedback from clients and look forward to welcoming partners across the corporate and government sectors to help us expand this worthy initiative and benefit the maximum number of workers.”
